June 20, 2007 - The day I thought my heart would break and swell with pride, all at the same time! By pure coincidence, Brooke and her friend Ethne were both invited to be interviewed and were both accepted to explore London and Paris with the student ambassador program called People to People. It was founded by President Eisenhower and has been continued by each president since. Eisenhower's grandaughter is the one in charge now and each president is an honorary chairman. I will never be able to describe in words what this experience meant to all of us but especially to Brooke. They went through months of studying, training, raising funds, so much to plan and then finally on June 20 last year, we drove to the airport to see our daughter fly away to Europe for 2 full weeks!! Here are a couple of pictures - one of Brooke at home before we left for the airport and one of Brooke and Ethne at the airport waiting for departure. Over the next couple of weeks I will be posting random pictures and notes from Brooke from their trip to Europe....we plan to be looking over the pictures at home and remembering this very special trip. They returned on July 3, 2007 so I'll probably post rememberances until then.

Wow! That's really cool that Ethne is going too!!! What an awesome coincidence (or is it..???) :)
It'll be nice to have a close friend with her in a strange place! Brandon traveled all over (South Africa, Germany...) but I've never left the United States.. except... once, for Canada.. just over the border.
K- I just realized.. that happened a year ago. *thunks head* Still..same thing I said before.. but past tense. :)
Wow!! How awesome a "once in a lifetime experience"!! I know that must have been hard to see her leave for 2 weeks, but yet so much pride that she was chosen!!:)
We loved hearing your stories first hand when you returned last year and we will love reading about them again. An experience you will never forget and we will never tire of hearing about.
Wow - I don't know if I could have let my "baby" go!! That's awesome that she got to experience the trip and I'll be looking forward to "watching" the trip unfold.
