We've had a busy last few days and haven't had a chance to update Brooke's remembrance of the ambassador program activities. We'll post the activities today and some pictures later.
June 22 - They went to Buckingham Palace to view the Changing of the Guard. They also went to see the Tower of London and cruised the River Thames, taking in many of the city's famous sights. They had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe this day. That evening, they went to the theater and saw a performance of Fiddler On The Roof.
June 23 - They got to meet a Member of Parliament, Ann Taylor, and hear all about the respective roles of the House of Commons, the House of Lords and the Monarch. They heard all about WWII and went to the museum where they got to see the Cabinet War Rooms. They strolled Covent Garden, with its shops and cafes and saw many street entertainers. That evening they took a ride on the London Eye, the largest Ferris wheel in the world. It is a 443 ft. high ride and she got some fantastic pictures of views of the city.
June 24 - Their first stop was at the Natural History Museum, the UK's national museum of nature. Her favorite part was seeing the dinosaur bones in real life. They had lunch at an Italian restaurant. Later, they went to the London Dance Studio and learned from some actors about using teamwork and all of your senses in every day life to make things go smoother. They did some activities and learned an ancient dance. They then went to Oxford and stayed overnight at the Oxford Youth Hostel. This part of the trip put a little "idea" in Brooke's head that she would someday like to attend Oxford - even as an exchange student - we'll see.... :) This was her first night to get to have Ethne as a roommate.
