I'm Back! :)

Well, things have been so busy and I haven't been able to post pictures for awhile. So, this morning I am determined to catch up, at least a little bit. These first two pictures are from the weekend we were at the Gaylord and the ICE exhibit. Pictures will not do any of it justice so I'll just post two of them.

Back in October Brooke entered a National PTA sponsored contest called Reflections. It is an arts recognition and achievement program. The kids enter categories like literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, film/video productions, etc... She chose to enter a poem which she wrote on the way to Mountain Peak Convention for the contest. Long story short, she won at the school level and the district level and is now waiting results from the state level. It was quite exciting to make it that far with a poem she wrote herself. After the awards have been given out I will post the poem. This picture is from the district awards program. They gave out 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards but only 1st place advanced to the state judging.

Blaire had a New Year party at the house with some of her friends. They had a great time playing soccer, volleyball, jumping on the trampoline, eating hot dogs and making banana splits. If you have girls around this age you may be familiar with Kooky Pens which, around here, have been the rage for awhile. :) So, they all brought their Kooky Pens and that is what they are playing with in the picture of them sitting in a circle.

Brooke had to have an ingrown toenail cut out and it was pretty painful. I've never had that before but others who have, definitely sympathized with her! Papa and Nana B sent her this balloon bouquet and it was such a neat one! The one that says "Don't Worry, Be Happy" on it was so awesome. If you touched the balloon it sang a little bit of the "Don't Worry" song. So cute!!

Every year I have to attend at least 12 hours of continuing education for my dental hygiene license to be renewed. For the past 5 years or so my co-worker, Johnna and my friend Sarah K from the Houston area, join me at the Southwest Dental Conference that is held in Dallas. We are so lucky to have one close by and it makes it a lot more bearable to do it with friends!
Here I am with Sarah:

And this is my co-worker, Johnna. She works Mondays and I work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Starting in June she is going to take my Tuesdays and work Monday, Tuesday and I am going to cut back to 2 days a week and take Wednesdays and Thursdays. I'm hoping to be able to catch up on some work at home with my extra day off!

I can sympathize with Brooke, I've had my fair share of in grown toenail surgeries(5-7, if I remember right). They are pretty painful! Glad you'll got to stay at the Gaylord and tour the ICE, it was awesome!

Good luck with the Reflections project... I'm very familiar with that since I had worked for the Texas PTA for 7 1/2 years. That's so exciting!!!

Greg got to do the SAT for the Duke University like Brooke. Great honor. Congratulations, Brooke. Loved seeing all the pictures of your past month's fun.
