Birthdays and Fair Days

We spent the weekend in the Austin area with Scott's family after his Dad's funeral. Blaire and her cousin, Logan were born 4 days apart and have never been together to celebrate their birthdays at the same time. So, this year we were all together and it made for a fun celebration to have them celebrate together.

We had a very special guest at the birthday party, Alice O. Alice and Scott's Mom have been friends since childhood and were roommates before Lucy married Emmett and before Alice went into the ministry. Because Blaire had been swimming, her hair was quite tangly...worse than usual...Alice and Scott's sister, Robbi had patience and to spare...so, they helped her comb out all the tangles so she would be presentable for pictures! :)

That Monday was Blaire's birthday and as I mentioned before, she wanted the American Doll, Julie for her birthday. Daddy met us at the Bistro for lunch and that was probably the most exciting part of all...to have Daddy eating with us at the very pink, very girly American Girl Bistro was a very special memory. He's such a great sport! The following pictures are of us at lunch, picking out Blaire's doll and finally, at home with her new doll and putting her to bed the first night. One of the things we got her at the AG Store was a matching sweatshirt for Blaire and her doll. So cute!!

That night she opened the gifts Papa and Nana, Eggers and Bishops had sent her. She got money (Guess where she wants to spend it?), AG doll clothes and even a personalized apron from Aunt Sheila...it matches the one Sheila gave me for my birthday, except for the name of course. ha

Tuesday, we went to the Texas State Fair. It was alot of fun and really wore us out with all the walking and sights. We had fun "trying on" cars in the auto show building, eating a Fletcher's corn dog, and watching the "Nerveless Nocks", a team of daredevils (which, being the brave person I am, I stared at my feet half of the show - ha.)

That afternoon, Blaire and her friend, Annika, got together with their American Girl dolls. Annika has the AG doll, Jess.

Friday night Blaire had a slumber party here at the house with four of her friends from school. A night with five 11 year olds is quite the giggly and fun, fun time!! They played games, did 2 art projects, busted open a pinata which was hanging from a very special pinata hanger Daddy made at work since we don't have a tree big enough to hang it from, and finally, each girl decorated their own mini cake and then quickly devoured it! :)
