We are enjoying our summer so much! I feel like a little kid who almost can't enjoy the play date for worrying about when it will be time to go home! :) Time goes so quickly but we're trying to savor every moment! Before we know it summer will be over and we'll have two in middle school!! Since our busy days have not allowed for much blogging I'll list the things we've done since 5th grade graduation and middle school awards ceremonies...
~ Attended a play about Anne Frank and the Holocaust at the Dallas Childrens Theatre. The girls got a book autographed by the Holocaust survivor who wrote the play and who knew Anne personally.
~ Had a potluck for our meeting one Sunday.
~ Went on our annual Beeman Family Beach Vacation as soon as school was out. This year we returned to Port Aransas. We had such an awesome week and even got to reconnect with some old friends (Shannon, Karina and Brandon B) who are living in that area now. Brooke and Dylan also got up close and personal with a couple of jellyfish and so now they have a story to tell!
~ Since Scott is working in Killeen and I have cut my workdays back to two days a week now, the girls and I are enjoying spending every moment we can with him in Killeen at his apartment and in his swimming pool! We have especially enjoyed getting to spend lots of time with the Eggers and also with Scott's mom and the Olson family! This alone makes for a great summer!! We had so much fun last week just getting together with the Eggers for supper and a swim at last minute notice...something we've not been able to do before without much planning and traveling! :)
~ We went to the rodeo with several friends and enjoyed an air-conditioned arena with little dust :) and good ol' Texas BBQ!!
~ Our friends Karen and Ethne S have picked the girls up for lunch on one of my workdays and took them out to eat and then home with them to swim until I joined them there for supper! It sure makes for a fun day for Brooke and Blaire and a worry-free day for me since I know they're having a great time while I'm away!!
~ The girls have already had several sleepovers and just last weekend Blaire had two friends, Sydney S and Annika S, while Brooke had Ethne S spend the night. That was a very fun and lively group with the younger 3 trying to sneak up on the older 2 and trying to listen in on their conversations from time to time! ha I overheard the younger 3 making big plans for middle school and making lists of what to take the first day. So cute!! Hopefully they'll still be as excited about middle school after the first week is over! ha
~ The girls have a daily exercise date in the greenbelt area near our house. It has been so sweet to watch them working together and having fun while exercising. And they're making very fun memories!
~ We have made a homemade apple pie starting completely from scratch. Such fun and so yummy!! And the Saturday of Father's Day we went all out with a rib-eye steak meal, sauteed mushrooms, pretty little salads, baked potatoes...and invited Uncle Tommy and Aunt Gloria to join us for an early Father's Day meal! The girls love getting together with their GREAT Uncle and Aunt and think they are especially cool becaue they both have iPhones!!
~ There has been a day for each girl with just mommy and her, cleaning her room from head to toe! Closets, dresser drawers, under beds... Now if we can just keep them clean...
~ And, of course, with any mom and daughter team there must be lots of shopping and we've managed to squeeze that in here and there! No one ever doubted we could do that! ha
~ Just today Brooke was fitted for contacts and is wearing a trial pair. I remember one of my first blogs was about her getting glasses! Now we're getting rid of them. ha She's doing really well so far with them. The girls hardly ever get told they look alike. One definitely has Beeman traits and the other is a Sansom through and through. But today when we were checking out at a store the clerk commented on how much they look alike! I guess now that Brooke's glasses are gone people will start seeing their resemblances again! They thought that was pretty neat!
~ More to come....this Thursday through next Tuesday we'll be in Killeen enjoying every moment with Daddy and no doubt adding more swimming and shopping and sightseeing to our list!
**Hope you all are having a wonderful summer!**
